The City: Bath
Unesco Heritage City, Roman baths, Queen Victoria's Pump Tea Room, Jane Austen's writing ground and references to her characters and plots spotted in street signs, gorgeous parks, lovely summer evenings . . . what more is there to say? Oh, yes, our private hillside overlooking the beautiful Bath valley and a walled garden for reflection and writing.
Near Glasgow:
Unesco Heritage City for a fun outing, a quick transit to quiet nature for real work, workshops in manorhouse, daily walks for inspiration and clearing the head.
Workshop Options:
Cost for the demi-week of working together to end writing struggles and get going on a new or abandoned project is only $375 for our 3 long day workshop, plus optional private coaching sessions on Day 3, and the cost includes the soiree, working lunches and teas and a simple second-evening soup/salad dinner together at our venue. The farewell dinner is pay-your-way and is held at a nearby pub overlooking the beautiful Bath valley.
Because of our venue, this workshop is set-up to use the mornings, afternoons and evenings, leaving less in-workshop time for sightseeing, but giving you the rest of your week to freely explore Bath and its many lovely museums, ruins and parks in summertime. There are also easy train connections to London for a late-summer weekend if you wish. The optional Here You Begin workshop is, as always, $85/person and is available for both partners and runs the fourth day of the workshop week.
Arrival Day . . . Settle in to your lovely Regency-era hotel or b and b . . . . before coming up the hill to our workshop venue, where the views of the valley stretch out before us. . . Sample Schedule continues here . . . |
_Morning writing workshops and quick exercises and discussion to approach sensitively the nature of why we don't write or struggle when we do, followed by afternoons free for writing in the beautiful walled orchard, conservatory or garden of our private venue. Late afternoon tea at our venue, with time to gather our wits and reflections gleaned during the day. As the days progress, we'll break down the walls and meet the page.
There is also time for exploring museums and Jane Austen's Bath, the Roman Baths and museum, shops, and beautiful streets of Bath, a UNESCO heritage city unlike any other in England. On our first night together, we welcome you with a soirée on our private hillside and we gather for a warm pub dinner at a nearby tavern overlooking all of Bath for our farewell evening. There is plenty of time for many individual sessions with your Editor/Coach as well as this course is set up to intensely work together for two days morning, afternoon and early evenings before breaking for the day. You'll enjoy a calm focus on the reasons for not writing, quiet nature and a beautiful garden for thoughtful walking, and the sense of a jumpstart on any projects calling to be begun or abandoned and wanting resurrection. The third day is devoted to private coaching sessions as requested or needed, and the beauty of Bath is there to explore at the end of your course. You have the option of adding on a Here You Begin day workshop for yourself and your partner before taking a few days to yourself for vacation and exploration of this beautiful area of England, from the beaches of Devon to the relatively near wilds of Wales or Glouctershire or to London by easy 1 hour train train if driving on the left doesn't entice you.
