Arrival evening: (Usually a Monday)
Welcome Soirée with fellow attendees and partners (optional) . . .
Having arrived during the day, you have time to check-in to your hotel, take a brief walk along the Avon river or wander the Georgian streets of Bath to refresh yourself after your flight and train to the city. When ready, come to our private home up the hill from the city in late afternoon for greetings and lite evening dinner. . . . to get to know your fellow workshop attendees as we watch the sun (hopefully!) dust the hills outside of Bath with color.
After our gathering, you'll transport back to the city and your hotel for a good night sleep. We'll be starting early in the morning!
(Usually a Tuesday)
We'll get right to work . . .
Morning Part 1: Orientation to the area and our work and a few
Warm-up exercises to gather your writing wits, identify areas we'll work on.
You'll be given time for a short mid-morning walk and reflection in our walled garden and home to find nearby writing/reflecting venues of choice.
Late Morning Part 2: "Approaching the Wall" workshop for those attending as a struggling or blocked writer, where we'll explore the texture, threshold and energy of your worries and battles in a group-supporting series of exercises and guided free-writes.
Late "sandwich" lunch together at our workshop venue.
Scaling the Wall, blocks, coaching one-on-one sessions, or
Time to write and reflect on bones of projects or journals. Followed by more guided sessions on Reconstructing voice, identifying the Procrastinator, Censor and Self-Protecting characters we dance with when we have blocks.
Evening: A good homemade soup and salad dinner and tart supper together on the hillside, followed by story time or special needs of the group, then down the hill to your comfy beds or nightcaps on your own if you wish.
Morning Part 1: Workshops: Getting out of that stuffy closet of fear. _Writing the Waves, Setting Tempo and other guidance work specific to the issues raised by group members. Sometimes it's our doubts that freeze us; if so we can set up Character, Pacing and other story work as well.
Afternoon: We'll gently meet the page, taking baby steps at being present to our Voice and committing to the page when the censor isn't looking. There is time to write, time for one-on-one sessions or a walk.
Tea Time will see Progress Reports and any specific needs worked into our Wrap-up session.
We'll join together at a tavern near-by to celebrate two days of nourishing Writer-selves and having made commitments to our Voice, our Vision and our Projects.
This day is devoted to additional one-on-one private sessions for anyone who wishes them, for feedback, for other issues not able to be covered in a group setting and for help in setting goals as a Writer again. It is strictly by appointment yet part of your offered workshop schedule. Or if you wish to sit and write and get feedback at end of day, that is possible, too.
Day 4: Optional Here You Begin day-workshop (additional $85): To rejuvenate your soul and make specific plans to make your life and your work one. Or departure day, to sight see in Bath or other areas nearby or to take off for London by train.
