Workshops Offered:
The City: Prague
The new old world of Prague, Czech Republic, offers a writer and soul-seeker the most beautiful city in Europe to explore as well as the newness of an culture previously hidden behind the Iron Curtain.
Here, you will have the option of staying in an ancient monastery, now an inn, overlooking the Old Town, with walking to the historic sites out the door as well as a large royal park and orchard for the quiet needed for reflection. Other wonderful hotels and small flats are nearby, Walking in the Old Town is delightful, with curving streets, colorful buildings and the grand palace and cathedral towering above. Come ready for hills and steps! All major sights are within walking or an easy tram away; we can also offer personal, privately-guided architectural tours if you wish. The Workshops:
As with the other Explore/ Write /Be venues, the Prague workshops offer:
Morning writing workshops, exercises and discussion to approach sensitively the nature of why we don't write or struggle when we do, followed by afternoons free for writing in the nearby parks, cafes or in the quiet of our base inn, a former monastery next to the Royal Park of Prague Castle. There is also time for writing or reflection, one-on-one sessions, exploring museums and arts and gathering together for tea and story time at the end of the afternoon. On our first night together, we welcome you with a soirée and we gather for a traditional Czech dinner at a nearby tavern for our farewell evening. There is plenty of time for individual sessions with your Editor/Coach as well. For the Work Project Start/Finish workshops, the schedule is similar, in that we gather in the mornings for optional quick writing work-outs to bring point, polish and repair to works, and optional one-on-one feedback sessions with your Editor/Coach, or time for group guidance of common themes and struggles specific to the workshop attendees on character, narrative, voice and proposals etc. Afternoons are free for writing, working on your project, or further one-on-one sessions as needed for feedback or a specific trouble spot in your work, or for soulful exploring. In the middle of the week, you have the option of attending a 1-day Here You Begin workshop for self-discovery, passions, skills and plan-making to create the work only you can do and the life you are here to live. More on that workshop can be found here on the Here You Begin page. The Details for Prague WorkshopsTwo half-week workshops (4 nights, 3 full days) are offered, with a Here You Begin one-day workshop in between. You may sign up for one, two or all three, or take one workshop and spend the rest of the week exploring other beautiful areas of the Czech Republic or parts of eastern Europe as you wish. Why not make attending a workshop part of a longer European exploration? Prices noted are for workshop only, and include the welcome soirée and closing dinner. There is a small additional food fee for partners or families who would like to join us at these to help cover the additional meal costs. Accommodation fees noted at the side are offered for the lovely monastery inn that is our host workshop base and the range is based on your travel party size as well as availability at the time of your reservation. Other hotels and accommodation options are nearby and if you'd like, we can help you with reservations or recommendations. It is best for the purposes of the Work of the workshop that you stay within close walking distance of our workshop venue during that phase of your trip. Offered in Winter 2017.
